About Binibeca Vell, Menorca

Binibeca has become one of the most popular resorts on the islan. This was one of Menorca's earliest coastal developments, combining narrow streets leading to numerous bars and restaurants.

Binibeca Vell is a traditionally designed village, built in typical Mediterranean style. The complex resembles a traditional Menorcan fishing village. It features a small harbour side from which cobbled alleyways lead to the houses, restaurants and bars which are situated on varying levels.

Binibeca Beach

The golden sand and clear, blue waters of Binibeca beach is situated close to Binibeca Vell. The beach and the surrounding area remain fairly undeveloped and there is also a car park and restaurant nearby. It is backed by soft dunes and rocks and is ideal for picnicsand you can hire sun-loungers, umbrella's and pedaloes here. There is also a very popular beach bar, offering hot and cold drinks and freshly cooked food.

The next bay is just a short walk from Binibeca Beach and is called Cala Torret where there is a diving centre with good swimming and snorkelling

Mahon

About fifteen minutes drive away is the port and capital of Menorca - Mahon or 'Mao'. The port is relaxing by day and the bars and restaurants along the portside come alive in the evening. It is easy to spend many hours watching the ships, admiring the view and taking in the atmosphere here.

Market Days in Mahon

As well as many good shops and fashionable boutiques along the streets of Mahon markets have become an important part of life in Menorca and are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the town square. These busy markets are full of local atmosphere and serve both the local population of Menorca and also offer many goods and souvenirs for tourists and visitors to the island. You will find clothes, jewellery and leather goods on. There is a very good Bar in the square known as 'La Explanada' which offers a welcoming refreshment and snack break for the weary shopper.

Mahon Airport is fairly small and as it is Menorca's only airport, is usually very busy. The airport is situated about 20 minutes south of Mao city and is set amongst palm trees and other large trees, which gives this airport a countryside feeling. Mahon Airport has two floors and is an efficient airport with good facilities.
